Brittany Anne Murphy-Monjack was a singer and actress from the United States. In 1997, she made her Broadway debut in a production of Arthur Miller's A View from the Bridge. Her breakthrough role in Clueless was as Tai Frasier, followed by supporting roles in independent films such as Freeway and Bongwater. Murphy gained critical acclaim in the 2000s for her roles in Don't Say a Word with Michael Douglas and 8 Mile with Eminem. Something Wicked, her final film, was released in April 2014.

Murphy died of pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication on December 20, 2009, at the age of 32.
