Eight Mile Road (8 Mile Road) was a dirt road known as M-102 In 1928. It now acts as a physical, psychological, and cultural barrier between the region's black and white residents. Some residents of Detroit's outskirts take pride in the fact that they never crose Eight Mile Road.[1], it was featured in 8 Mile, and B-Rabbit originally lives in there.
The 2002 film "8 Mile" depicted the conflict between Detroit and its suburbs. The region has a long history of serving as a bridge between our region, state, and nation, which predates its negative perception. Eight Mile was historically, and in some places still is, known as "Baseline Road," a name derived from its status as the line along which the Northwest Territories were mapped.
